“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. 

By any other name would smell as sweet."  

Why the name “Wandering Locust”? Isn’t yoga all about stillness and calmness. 

 

But we know that the mind always wanders; it is restless and jumping around. With this name  we are capturing the dichotomy. We acknowledge the restlessness and distraction of our “monkey mind”. We understand that it is the fundamental nature of the mind. And once we accept it, we use the practices of breath awareness, asana and meditation to focus and settle and observe

 

Did you know that there is a yoga pose called Locust - Salabhasana. This is a prone position asana, which strengthens the entire posterior chain - the back, especially the lumbar region, the glutes and legs. The prone position asanas are the most under-served in Yoga. Maybe because their benefits are nuanced, they’re the “under-dogs” to downdog. At this studio we elevate and celebrate all the prone position asanas.
